SANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS

In order for a tournament to be a UJGA-sanctioned tournament, it must be either 1) Run by the UJGA Staff, or 2) Run by an approved allied association of the UJGA. PPR points will not be awarded at non-sanctioned tournaments at the local or national level.

Qualifying players are eligible to participate in the QUALIFYING points, BONUS points and PERFORMANCE points based on their finish at the national event using Schedule A1 / Schedule F (Match Play) for ZIONS Bank Championships Series members and Schedule B4 / Schedule F (Match Play) for SWIRE COCA-COLA Jr. Series members.

QUALIFYING POINTS

UJGA Members who qualify for National and State tournaments through UJGA-sanctioned tournaments will receive 50-Qualifying Points IF THE QUALIFIER PARTICIPATES in the National or State tournament for which they qualified. This includes the Junior World Championships, Optimist International Jr. Golf Championships, Trusted Choice BIG I National Championship, all USGA Championships, Utah State Amateur and the Utah Open.

50-Qualifying Points are also awarded to all Utah representatives on the Boys and Girls Junior Americas Cup, Eddie Hogan Cup, Mary Cave Cup and SWIRE Cup teams.

Players who obtain exempt status in National and State tournaments based on the previous year’s play AND who originally qualified for the National or State tournament through a UJGA-sanctioned tournament will receive 50-Qualifying Points.

In addition, ALL UJGA members who participate in the “Utah” Qualifying Tournament for any USGA Championship will receive 50-Qualifying Points for their participation in the qualifying event.

BONUS POINTS

A player may earn BONUS POINTS based on their finish at National and State tournaments if; 1) they qualified for the National or State tournament through a UJGA-sanctioned tournament; and 2) They must be a current member of the UJGA in good standing.

The Player Performance Ranking schedule that is used is SCHEDULE A1 for Junior World Championships, Optimist International Jr. Golf Championships, Trusted Choice BIG I National Championship, U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and Utah Open and SCHEDULE F: MATCH PLAY for the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Girls Junior, U.S. Amateur Public Links, U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links and the Utah State Amateur for ZIONS BANK Championship Series members and Schedule B4 for SWIRE Coca-Cola Jr. Series members.

PERFORMANCE POINTS

If a player MAKES THE CUT or QUALIFIES FOR MATCH PLAY at the Junior World Championships, Optimist International Jr Golf Championships, Trusted Choice BIG I National Championship, any USGA Championship, Utah State Amateur or the Utah Open the player will be awarded 100-Performance Points.

In the Junior World Championships tournament, the points are only awarded in the age division that they participated in at the National or State tournament. Example: if a player, who is 13 years of age participates in the UJGA Johnny Miller division but qualified and made the cut at Junior World in the 13-14 age division, the points awarded will be Player Performance Points in the UJGA 13-14 division, not the Johnny Miller Divisions (15-18 age division). In this example this would be the Bruce Summerhays Division.

Player Performance Rankings are used to determine all Utah Teams, Golfer of the Year, “All – Jr. Team” selection and invitations to the season ending SWIRE Cup, the PLAYERS Championship, Bill Johnson Memorial, Karl Tucker Invitational and the ZIONS BANK Challenge Cup Matches.
