The Utah Junior Golf Association will offer 30 junior events in 2008. Membership is open to male and female junior golfers, 18 or younger, not currently attending a college or university. UJGA tournaments are typically 9- 18- or 36- hole stroke play events. Depending on the junior tournament series, boys and girls compete in age divisions with the typical field size being 84 to 160 players. State and national qualifying events may have as many as 224 players participating. Some UJGA tournaments have special eligibility restrictions.

Completed applications should be sent to the UJGA office located at: Utah Junior Golf Association All UJGA members who participate in the ZIONS BANK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES are required to purchase handicap card from Utah Golf Association (UGA). Establishment of a handicap prior to participation in UJGA tournaments is not required. Handicap cards are offered at reduced junior rates and can also be purchased at any golf course within the state of Utah. DETERMINING CORRECT DIVISION BECAUSE OF BIRTHDAY: If a junior player has a birthday during a tournament, he/she must move up to the next age group prior to the start of that tournament. Players cannot participate in a division that they do not meet the ability requirement. 18-YEAR OLDS: An 18-year old may participate in tournaments of the ZIONS BANK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (Johnny Miller / Forever Young / Belle Fellows Divisions) . Due to National tournament rules an 18-year old is prohibited from participating in the U.S. Junior Amateur / U.S. Girls Junior Qualifying tournaments. An 18-year old is also prohibited from participating in the Junior World Qualifying tournament as a qualifier however; a player may participate in the tournament as a non-qualifier. |
