IS THERE A DRESS CODE TO PLAY IN UJGA TOURNAMENTS?

Proper dress is required at all times while at the host facility. Questionable attire will be reviewed by the UJGA Staff. Should a host facility have a stricter dress code, its policy will take precedence. Players in violation will not be allowed to tee off.

REQUIRED DRESS:

  • Hats / visors if worn must be worn with the brim forward.
  • Collared shirts and mock top golf shirts are approved for play.
  • Women’s fashion shirts without a collar must have sleeves. Girls will also need to wear “tank tops” under their golf shirt if their “fashion” reveals a bare mid-riff.
  • All players must keep their shirts tucked in at the facility regardless of the shirt style
  • The length of a girl’s shorts or skirt must be within a dollar bill length of the top of the player’s knee, the length of a boy’s shorts cannot extend below the bottom of the player’s kneecap.

PROHIBITED DRESS:

  • Tank tops only, T-Shirts, men’s sleeveless shirts
  • Denim shorts / jeans, short shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts.

HOW DO I SIGN-UP TO PLAY IN THE UJGA?

The UJGA holds an annual “Sign-up” Event in March; this is the first opportunity for players to sign up for tournament play. Membership and Tournament Entry Forms are available on this web site after the Sign-ups and can be found under PLAYER INFORMATION / Membership Information / Registration Forms. These can be printed and sent to the indicated address with membership and entry fees.

HOW DO I LEARN THE RULES OF GOLF?

The UJGA assists in teaching its members the Rules of Golf through Rules of Golf Workshops. The association conducts workshops prior to the start of the season. These are provided free of charge. Workshops are optional and are not mandatory but highly suggested. Players who attend will receive 50 Bonus points from the UJGA Players Performance Rankings schedule.

In addition, available on the association’s web site are Rules of Golf Quizzes that a member can take; these too are optional and not mandatory. Players are awarded Player Performance Ranking Points based on correctly answering the 20-question quiz (1-point for a correct answer plus 1-point for a correct validation of the answer; 5-points for a correct answer on the bonus question plus 5-points for a correct validation of the answer; maximum of 50-points available). Members are limited to taking the quiz only once each year. The deadline date for all player quizzes is July 1st.

New in 2011, PPR points will be awarded based on a player’s play in UJGA-sanctioned tournaments as well as UJGA events (Rules of Golf Workshop, Rules Quizzes, and Skills Challenge) but WILL NOT count toward postseason awards, invitational tournaments and Utah teams unless a player has attended a UJGA Rules of Golf workshop, this validates his PPR points. In the event a player has not attended a workshop, his PPR points will accrue until they are validated.

  •  Belle Fellows Division (Girls 15-18), average score of 99 & under
  • Judie Ahrend Division (Girls 13-14), all players

The VIVINT Jr. Series is a developmental series of tournaments for players 13 to 18 years of age who have not played competitive tournament golf.  Flights include the Boys 15-18 Flight, the Boys 13-14 Flight and the Girls 15-18 Flight*. *NOTE: ALL of the Girls 15-18 Flight tournaments are 9-hole events except for the Utah State Junior Amateur Match Play Championship and the Bill Johnson Memorial; these are 18-hole events.

Players are encouraged to participate in the age division that meets their birth date. If a player feels the competition within his/her division is not adequate and the player meets the performance qualifying criteria of the next age division a player may petition the UJGA Executive Committee for approval to move up to the next division.

WHAT DETERMINES THE AGE GROUP A JUNIOR PLAYS IN?

If a player withdraws within the posted time frame, his/her entry fee can be transferred to another UJGA-sanctioned tournament that is during the same season (cannot transfer to an Invitational tournament). If a player withdraws after the posted period or does not follow the withdrawal procedure, the player will be considered a “No-Show” and will be penalized as indicated in the No-Show Policy.

To withdraw, a player must contact the UJGA office by telephone, email or by fax and indicating the following: 1) Name of player; 2) Name of tournament being withdrawn from, and 3) Name of tournament entry fee is to be transferred to.
