Bill Johnson Memorial

Depth seemed to be the recipe for the day at the annual Bill Johnson Memorial Tournament of Champions Sept. 17 at the Ranches at Promontory Point..

Despite facing adversity in the form of windy conditions and a course that required accuracy and good course management, winners in nearly half of the divisions had to go on past regulation to determine the final outcome. Three of the seven divisions in the Zions Bank Championship Series required sudden death playoffs to crown the champion.

All three of the 15-to-18 divisions required extra holes to determine the champ of champs. And all three went at least two extra holes to determine who that champion was.

The winners of those sudden death play-offs were Syracuse's Amanda Snyder in the Belle Fellow's Division, Clearfield's Devon Purser of the Johnny Miller Division and Orem's McCade Larsen of the Boys' 15-to-18 First Flight.

The champions in the other divisions included: Arman Ben-Jacob, Logan (Bruce Summerhays), Haley Dunn, Layton (Judy Ahrend), Justin Shluker, Park City (Boys 13-14 First Flight), and Charlie Duensing, Sandy (Mike Reid).

Winners of the Tournament of Champions, sponsored by Menlove Dodge Toyota, will be honored at the season ending banquet in October.
